In the aftermath of the flood, I worked for weeks with residents, business owners, St. Peter’s Church, and County efforts. We all agree public safety is of primary importance – the next flood will happen, and we must put life saving measures in place.
I worked proactively with other state legislators to bring home over $18 million of state funding for Historic Ellicott City and this past year I’ve worked to develop public-private partnerships to create stormwater retention ponds and other flood mitigation techniques. A comprehensive plan for flood mitigation for Ellicott City and the surrounding areas requires a collaborative approach, creative thinking, and significant resources. I look forward to fighting to bring even more of those resources to the County.
